I started my woodworking career in 1989 on the mid-north coast of New South Wales with an apprenticeship in a small joinery shop.
For more than five years, I worked for the well-respected Sydney firm Fewings Joinery, building joinery and cabinetry. Always having had an interest in stairbuilding and handrailing, I worked for AW Tod Stair & Joinery refining my craft over a similar period of time.
I draw my inspiration from numerous craftsmen, some of my favourites being Edward Barnsley, Alan Peters, George Ellis and John Harrison as well as the unadorned simplicity of the works from Shaker communities in the United States.
I have established a small workshop in Hornsby, where I use traditional craft-based methods. When time and workload permits, I am happy to share my skills and techniques with others who have a passion for woodworking.
